Optimizing the P Card Program #85

Position your P card employment in harmony with your costs, convenience and control cultural

The seminar leader in conjunction with IOMA has recently surveyed numerous organizations on their P cards. The finding will published by IOMA shortly.

The use of P cards is probably the leading best practice in AP. It is a form of outsourcing accounts payable to a bank similar to what consumers have embraced throughout the world. The question is not whether P cards are relevant but how to optimize its employment thus expanding the program consistent with risks. Improved information systems have enabled increased card utilization and the incorporation of larger transactions in the P card arena. At the workshop, we will examine processes and the recent IOMA survey:

• Expanding the card in what areas
• Contracting/declining to employ the p card
• Enhancing GL data that details their use
• Exploiting process cost benefits
• Promoting use of the p cards
• Participating in revenue sharing opportunities (rebates)
• Combating fraud and abuse
• Exploring one-card and ghost card alternatives
