Essentials of Accounts Payable Training & Certification Program

This fast-paced, one-day training program will rapidly get you up to speed on invoice handling, checks, 1099s, e-invoicing, audits — all the tasks of today's multi-tasking AP specialists and managers. By the end of the day, you will be prepared for the certification exam which can be taken at the end of the program or online at a later date, if you wish to take it.

The program is the ideal way to get new staff up to speed in a hurry, or to prepare to take the accounts payable specialist (APS), or accounts payable manager (APM) certification exam, developed by IOMA and the Accounts Payable Network (TAPN). Join the hundreds of organizations that have taken advantage of this program in just the past few months!

Cost for the training program is $720, and includes lunch and all the training materials which are sent to you in advance of the program. Materials include a 290-page Training Manual and a sample practice exam.

The exam can be taken at the end of the training seminar if desired (it takes roughly 60-90 minutes), or can be scheduled and taken at a later date online. Cost for the exam is $220. For more information about the exams or the AP certification programs.

About the Training & Certification Programs

IOMA provides the only training tied to a three-level certificate program for AP professionals. It gives you the full toolkit needed to train and certify the AP specialist, manager or the entire department. IOMA's training programs are presented in an engaging interactive, hands-on style led by veteran AP management experts and practitioners – at different cities around the country.

The IOMA/TAPN certification exams can be taken at the end of the program, and are designed for the AP specialist (APS), AP manager (APM) and the department (APD) and signify that an individual (or department) has demonstrated a core level of accounts payable proficiency.

Why Is Accounts Payable Certification Necessary?

Much of what is done in accounts payable today has been developed in the past 5 years – some of it in the last 2 years. Today’s payables professional must use the latest electronic processing technologies to drastically reduce the cost of their operations, must work intuitively with every system and department within the organization, and must now completely change a number of procedures while creating new ones due to Sarbanes-Oxley. The profession has largely kept pace, much to its credit, but accounts payable has had few ways to demonstrate their expertise either within the organization or to outside agencies. Until now.

Who Should Attend?

The program is designed for experienced AP managers, their staff, or the AP department as a whole, as well as those overseeing the AP function including accounting department managers, controllers and shared services managers, payroll managers, and P-card administrators, in public, private, governmental and non-profit organizations.
